The Rice University Crisis Management Team reminded students to wear warm clothing when they leave for classes today in a statement released early this morning.
“Due to the sudden, dramatic drop in temperature Houston is currently experiencing, we would like to encourage students to dress appropriately; snow pants, parkas, and boots would be adequate attire,” the statement reads.
The Crisis Management Team implored students to stay safe by whatever means necessary.
“Our campus is completely unprepared for such low temperatures this early in the year,” the statement reads. “We urge students to avoid exposure by remaining indoors, taking the bus, and generally staying put.”
The Crisis Management Team also said students could stay home if they are worried about inclement weather.
“We might experience some of the worst weather of the year today,” the statement reads. “If students are concerned about being distracted in class, they should seriously consider staying home.”
