As the Owls took the field yesterday against Old Dominion University, the players were welcomed onto the field by a record crowd.
“It was just so great to see so many fans in the stands,” an anonymous football player said. “Seeing both their faces really inspired us to play good football.”
Both the fans in attendance were also surprised by the record turnout, and immediately bonded over their common interests.
“I was blown away to see another person at the game,” remarked junior Charlie Williams. “It’s so good to see that I’m no longer the only football fan here.”
“I have been looking forward to college football forever,” continued freshman Tyler Smith, “and now I feel like I can have the real college experience. ”
Rice Administration is also excited to welcome the influx in school spirit, releasing a statement commending the two students for their enthusiasm. Hoping that the sense of fraternity would continue, the statement attributed the “100 percent increase in attendance” to last year’s conference title.
It remains unclear which team the fans were rooting for.
